# Software Factory Builder

Your workflow. Your factory.

Software Factory Builder is a flexible software factory builder in active development, with an open source release planned. It turns a team's development process into editable workflows of agents, tools, routing, and human decisions.

## How it works

1. Give your own coding agent the investigation prompt. It researches the repositories and documentation it can access and proposes factories, profiles, checks, and policies.
2. Review and edit the proposed process. A factory is a YAML file in your repository, with a visual canvas for editing its stations and connections.
3. Run the factory. Inspect attempts, tool calls, costs, and artifacts. Human gates pause work for a decision and can send it back for changes.

The current investigation feature provides a prompt to copy into your own agent. Integrated guided factory generation is planned.

## Your agents and subscriptions

Claude Code is the first implemented adapter. Local runs can use the person's own installed CLI and subscription login. Personal subscription runs stay on the person's machine. API keys are an option for CI and server execution.

Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, and opencode adapters are planned. Sign-in and subscription support depend on each tool and execution mode.

## Current implementation

- Visual factory editing and YAML files
- Local Claude Code runs
- MCP tool actions, routing, and nested factories
- Human gates and live run records

## Roadmap

- Guided project research and factory generation
- Additional coding-agent adapters
- Coordination across repositories
- Evaluated process improvements from human feedback

The repository is currently private. Public source and install instructions will be linked from the site when ready. No public package installation is announced yet.

## Related project

[Agent Manager](https://agent-manager.dev/) is a separate project from the same maker. It manages coding-agent terminal sessions. Software Factory Builder defines and runs the process those agents work through.
